Blog Post 3/20-24/23

Monday 3/20/23  We were assigned 20 questions today. Tuesday 3/21/23 Wednesday 3/22/23 Today we did Vocabulary Lesson 8. In the book we completed Exercises 1 and 3. We also made 2 original sentences for each question. Thursday 3/23/23 We got introduced to a Reading Mini Project today. We started the assignment after a quick explanation. Friday 3/24/23 I was absent. Out sick.

Blog Post 3/13-17/23

 Monday 3/13/23 We started the play Fences. Some classmates read it aloud as the character in the book. We watched a short video about the author. We analysed the play. We put our annotations on a sheet of paper. Tuesday 3/14/23 Today, we continued reading fences. The play is by August Wilson. We filled out half of our annotations paper yesterday, so we're filling out the other half today. Wednesday 3/15/23 Today, we continued reading fences. The worksheet we have today is different from the other one. This worksheet tells us to write a claim and back it up with textual evidence. In the story we got introduced to 2 new characters. The 2 new characters are Gabriel and Cory. Thursday 3/16/23 Today, we continued the play Fences. At the beginning of class we read some of our claims and evidence from yesterday. People were chosen by who the wheel landed on. We started scene four of the play today. We found out that Cory lied to Troy. Friday 3/17/23 Today, we continued reading Fences. We

 Monday 3/6/23 We read a poem by Robert Frost. It was about a boy accidentally cutting off his hand. In the poem the boy died. We analyzed the poem. We also annotated. Tuesday 3/7/23 Today, we read a poem by Robert Frost. It was called "Birches". It was about a man visiting a place from his childhood. We analyzed the poem. We made annotations as well. Wednesday 3/8/23 Today, we read a poem by Robert Frost again. The poem was called "Nothing Gold Can Stay". It was about nature and how nothing in life is forever and that's what makes it beautiful. We analyzed the poem. We made annotations. Thursday 3/9/23 Friday 3/10/23 No School

Blog Post 2/13-17/23

 Monday 2/13/23 We wrote a pledge. The pledge was what do you promise to the African-American Community. We saw a short video on Maya Angelou. We then read her poem The Black Family Pledge. We annotated and analysed the poem. Tuesday 2/14/23 Ms. Cook taught us. It was valentine's day. We read the poem a dream deferred. We analysed the poem. Then, we wrote a poem for valentine's day about our dream's. Wednesday 2/15/23 Mr. Rease was Absent. We worked on our projects the entire day. Thursday 2/16/23 Today we learned about narrative writing. A narrative is a story. We read the poem Incident. We then wrote a short essay. The essay was us writing in our diary as the narrator, which was the little boy. Friday 2/17/23 No School

Bog Post 2/6-10/23

 Monday 2/6/23 We did Vocabulary. We searched up the definitions. We did the 2 activities assigned. We also put whether it was adj., noun, or verb. We turned it in at the end of class. Tuesday 2/7/23 We did a thought cluster. We learned about 3 different point of view. We learned about Plato, Aristotle, and Socrates's different thoughts on owning materialistic things. We each chose the philosopher we agreed with. We made cluster based of of the philosopher we chose. Wednesday 2/8/23 We learned about Emily Dickinson. We broke down one of her quotes. We watch 3 different trailers based on her. We continued to try and break down each quote. All 20 quotes from Emily Dickinson were broken down by analysis, theme, conflict, and topic. Thursday 2/9/23 We continued the same work from yesterday. We watched a documentary on Emily Dickinson. She had a bunch of different love interests. She only published 7 poems. They later found over a thousand poems and published them. Friday 2/10/23 Today

 1/23/23 Substitute 1/24/23 Today we learned about arguments. We learned that there are three different elements to an argument. We learned about the rhetoric triangle and logos ( which is based on logic), ethos (which is the believability of the speaker), and pathos (which is evidence designed to stir emotions).
